The Madison County Democratic Headquarters for “Get out the Vote” 2018 activities will be located at the Madison County Democrat Fairgrounds Building beginning in September. The office will be open upon request anytime in September, and regular office hours are planned beginning September 25th. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED NOW… and welcome anytime! So take a look at your calendars for September 25th through November 6th and sign up whenever it works for you.
Cleaning and setup of the office space will take place on Saturday afternoon, September 1st (TODAY) at 3:00 pm.
The office can be opened anytime upon request during the next two weeks.The Cindy Axne campaign has scheduled an event on Saturday, September 8, and plans to open the office for volunteers to stop and pick up canvas packets.
Regular Office hours are planned, starting September 25th:
- Closed on Monday (open by request)
- Tuesdays open 5-7:30 PM
- Wednesdays open 5-7:30 PM
- Thursdays open 5-7:30 pm
- Saturdays 9-12 :30 and 12:30-4 shifts
- Sundays 1-4pm
The office will plan to stock yard signs, have candidate literature on hand, and maintain a volunteer schedule and a current calendar of events.
Volunteers – we need you!
Volunteers needed daily beginning September 25th for the following activities:
- Walk canvas list (take up to 1.5 to 2 hours) covering sections of Madison County communities on September 29 and Oct 20.
- Phone calling (get a list to take home and return)
- Follow up on absentee ballot requests
- Deliver signs, make literature packets, misc.
- Bring food and water

Thursday, October 11, 2018: Festival Float Decorating
6:00 pm. We will be using Kiernan's barn for decorating our Covered Bridge Festival float. It is located at 2007 Highway 92, west of the 4-way stop. Join us and lend your creativity!
October 14, 2018:
Covered Bridge Festival Parade
12:30pm to 3:30pm starting at Winterset High School. Walk in the Covered Bridge parade with the Madison County Democrats and local candidates! We will line up at the Winterset high school starting at 12:30. The parade starts at 2:00. If you prefer to ride, a hay rack will be available - bring a red, white, or blue cover to sit on. Drivers are needed to park on 10th St at the end of the parade route.
Monday, October 15, 2018: Meet & Greet with Tim Gannon
12pm to 1pm at Northside Cafe, 61 E. Jefferson, Winterset. Please join candidate for Secretary of Agriculture Tim Gannon at Northside Cafe in Winterset on Monday, October 15th! With less than a month until Election Day, Tim is excited to be coming to Madison County to talk with folks about how he will fight on behalf of Iowa’s farming towns and agricultural economy as the next Secretary of Agriculture. Coffee will be served, but food is not provided.
Tim Gannon is a fifth generation Iowan and former USDA Official where he served for eight years under Secretary Vilsack. Before joining the USDA, Tim worked on President Obama's 2008 Iowa campaign as Director of Rural Outreach. In August, Tim was honored to receive President Obama's endorsement. Now, when he's not taking care of his new-born daughter Lucy, Tim works on his family's Century Farm in his hometown of Mingo, IA.
